Hello X Developer Community,
We are thrilled to introduce a pilot program for X API Pay-Per-Use Pricing! This new approach lets developers pay solely for the API requests they make, using a flexible credit-based system.
Important Note: This is a limited pilot program only, not a full product launch. It won’t be available to all developers, and there’s no guarantee it will become a permanent offering.
How It Works
- Purchase credits upfront via the Developer Console.
- Credits are deducted automatically based on your actual API usage.
- No subscription fees, no monthly caps—just pay for what you use.
- Monitor your usage in real-time through the Dashboard or Usage tab in the Developer Console.
Pricing Details
- Post (Read): $0.005 per Post fetched.
- User (Read): $0.01 per User fetched.
- DM Event (Read): $0.01 per DM Event fetched.
- Content (Create): $0.01 per request when creating posts or media.
- DM Interaction (Create): $0.01 per request when creating DM interactions.
- User Interaction (Create): $0.015 per request when creating User interactions.
Further pricing breakdown is available at console.x.com
Additional costs and pricing changes may be introduced and announced at any point.
Note: These rates are subject to change as we refine the pricing model during testing.
How It Compares to Subscription Pricing
Our existing subscription tiers (Free: $0, Basic: $200/month, Pro: $5,000/month) come with fixed monthly fees, tiered rate limits, and caps on Post objects. In contrast, the Pay-Per-Use pilot is purely usage-based:
- No fixed fees or monthly caps.
- Less restrictive rate limits per endpoint.
- Write operations, previously bundled in subscriptions, are now charged per request.
Limits
- No monthly object caps.
- Rate limits apply per endpoint but are more generous than in the subscription model.
How to Join
This pilot will be open to a small group of developers only. If you’re interested:
- Visit https://console.x.com, and submit the interest form.
- We’ll review applications and notify selected participants via email.
- Accepted developers can then access via Developer Console at https://console.x.com to purchase credits, set up apps, and get started.
For full details, check out https://console.x.com. Your feedback as a participant will shape any future expansions of this feature.
