Today, we want to share with you a brief update on the Twitter Developer Labs v1 endpoints. As you may have already noticed, we’ve decided to extend the deprecation timeline for several Labs v1 endpoints.

We had previously communicated that we’d retire the Labs v1 Tweets and Users, recent search, and hide replies endpoints on May 25th. Instead, these endpoints will retire on July 6th. If you haven’t already, we encourage you to use our migration guides to help with your migration process.

Additionally, we want to give you advance notice that we’re preparing to announce the deprecation of three more Labs v1 endpoints in the not-so-distant future – Tweet metrics, filtered stream, and sampled stream. We’re still working on an exact date for retirement, but we will provide you with at least 60 days notice before these Labs v1 endpoints are retired. The Tweet metrics endpoint will not be replaced with a new version, but all metrics returned by the endpoint are, and will continue to be, available in the Tweet object with the new Twitter API. Before retirement, filtered stream and sampled stream will be updated as part of the new Twitter API. As we have done in the past, when we release a new version of an endpoint, we will provide you with migration guides to help you get up and running as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Please note, the COVID-19 stream endpoint will not be affected by either of these deprecations.

Be on the lookout for an update later this summer regarding deprecation timing for Labs v1 Tweet metrics, filtered stream, and sampled stream.
