🚀 Turning Hand Gestures into Commands with OpenCV + Python Over the past few days, I’ve been diving deep into computer vision and exploring how we can make human-computer interaction more natural and intuitive. 💡 This curiosity led me to build an interactive image viewer that works entirely through finger gestures — no mouse, no keyboard, just a webcam and my hands. With this project, I can: 🖐 Drag an image freely across the screen with hand movement 🔍 Zoom in or out using pinch gestures — just like on a smartphone, but in mid-air 📸 Switch between images with a simple swipe gesture 🧠 How It Works I used OpenCV with Python for image processing, cvzone for easier hand tracking integration, and MediaPipe for detecting hand landmarks in real time. The program tracks my hand position and recognizes gestures like pinch, swipe, and drag. Each gesture is mapped to a specific image action (move, zoom, or change image). All changes happen in real-time, giving a smooth, responsive feel. 🔧 Tech Stack Python – core programming OpenCV – real-time image processing cvzone & MediaPipe – hand and finger tracking 🌟 Why This Excites Me This project reminded me of scenes from Iron Man where Tony Stark moves holograms with his hands. While I don’t have Jarvis yet 😄, this is a step towards touchless interfaces — something that could be used in: Interactive kiosks AR/VR environments Presentations without clickers Accessibility solutions for people with mobility challenges 📌 What’s Next? I’m planning to extend this project to: Control brightness and volume with gestures Implement object selection and rotation Explore integration with AR glasses for a futuristic UI experience 💬 I’d love to hear your thoughts: ➡️ What gesture-based controls would you like to see in everyday life? ➡️ How do you see this kind of technology being used in the future? #OpenCV #Python #ComputerVision #GestureControl #AI #Innovation #MachineLearning #TechProjects #FutureOfTech #UserExperience

Them: We’re good, we have 95% retention rate Me: Great! Do you know why they stay? Them: Yes, our switching costs are high” That is the moment my stomach drops… Customers stay for many reasons: → Some stay because contracts trap them. → Some stay because switching feels annoying. → Some stay because they have low expectations. NONE of that signals real customer loyalty… Loyalty lives in a different place: ✶ It survives small mistakes. ✶ It grows when the relationship feels fair and human. ✶ It appears when they recommend you without thinking. ✶ It shows up in customers who could leave but choose you over again The danger of retention is that it looks healthy right until the moment it collapses. Instead of focussing on retention alone, focus on: 1. treating customers as individuals and show you understand them and care. 2. consistency and reliability over time. Good service once helps but great service repeatedly builds trust. 3. giving opportunities for engagement: ask for feedback, respond to it, offer communities or ways to interact. 4. solving painful friction points but also surprise and delight them 5. understanding and fulfilling customer needs across the spectrum: functional and emotional needs If your retention looks strong but your loyalty is weak, you are sitting on silent churn. It will hit the moment a better option appears. ▶︎ I would love to hear your view. what signals true loyalty in your world? #cx #customerexperience #customerrelations

“70% of our marketing time is spent on recovering abandoned carts. On WhatsApp.” That was the single biggest takeaway from a customer call yesterday, for me. A French retailer selling bespoke fashion worldwide. Here’s what they told me: "WhatsApp messaging isn’t cheap. Everybody knows that. But we believe in the channel. We know it’s our best shot at being seen. At being heard. At carving a space right where our customers live, next to their friends and family.” So they stopped treating abandoned cart reminders like afterthoughts. Instead, they built campaigns that command attention. And I’ve never seen anything like them. 🔥 Campaign #1: The After-Dark Discount Window Instead of sending a routine cart reminder, they unlock a private discount window at 10 PM. Why? Because late-night browsing isn’t rational, it’s emotional. Customers who opt-in get an exclusive deal during this nocturnal shopping spree. 💰 Campaign #2: Shoppers Name Their Price They don’t shove a price at the customer. They hand over the pricing power. Shoppers reply with a price they’re willing to pay. If it falls within range, it’s approved. This campaign has the highest engagement numbers I’ve EVER seen on WhatsApp. 🎥 Campaign #3: Staff Wearing the Carted Item Forget static product images. They broadcast videos of staff members wearing the item, describing the fit and fabric. It kills doubts. It brings the product to life. It makes buying feel effortless. For every $1 spent on WhatsApp cart recovery, they make $30 back. Why? Because they treat every abandoned cart like a full-fledged marketing campaign. No lazy nudges. No generic messages. Every interaction, memorable. WhatsApp marketing is wildly profitable—if you refuse to take shortcuts

You don’t build loyalty through rewards—you reward customers for already being loyal. Big difference. Loyalty programs are primarily designed for customers who have already demonstrated consistent engagement and loyalty to your brand. The goal isn’t to create loyalty through rewards, but to recognize and strengthen it. By offering rewards, perks, and recognition, you can maximize their lifetime value, whether by increasing purchase frequency, boosting basket size, or encouraging referrals. Tactics like tiered rewards, exclusive access, and personalized incentives help reinforce their commitment and make them feel valued. 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀:  For customers with the potential to become loyal, the strategy shifts. These customers have shown higher engagement but haven't fully crossed into the loyal customer category. To convert them, 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 is key. Tailor rewards based on their behaviors and preferences to create a sense of exclusivity and recognition. It’s also crucial to stay top of mind through strategic touchpoints—whether via targeted email campaigns, loyalty app notifications, or personalized offers that speak directly to their interests. Offering a path to higher-tier rewards as they engage more frequently can further motivate them to commit to your brand long-term. 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀:  Casual customers require a different approach. They won’t become loyal overnight, and the objective here is gradual nurturing. For this segment, it's all about increasing touchpoints and staying relevant. Broader offers, such as discounts, time-sensitive promotions, or entry-level rewards, help keep them engaged without overwhelming them. The goal is to activate them periodically, ensuring they interact with your brand from time to time. By keeping consistent offers flowing, you maintain visibility, and over time, some of these casual customers may transition into the potential loyal customer segment. ----- Ultimately, loyalty is about retention, not conversion. The focus is on maintaining a strong relationship with those who already support your brand and steadily nurturing others to deepen their commitment over time.

You've got a Google Business Profile. It's verified. It's filled out. Hell, you even added photos. So why aren't you showing up when people search for what you do? According to Ahrefs research, nearly 90% of consumers use Google Maps, and 46% of all Google searches have local intent. If you're not showing up in the Local Pack, your competitors will steal all your customers. Here are 5 proven strategies to rank higher: 1. Perfect your Google Business Profile setup Your primary category is the #1 ranking factor for Google Maps, according to Whitespark's 2026 data. Choose the most specific category possible. "Pizza restaurant" beats "Restaurant." Add 2-3 secondary categories for other services. Complete every single field: business description, attributes, service areas, opening date. An incomplete profile signals your business isn't actively managed. Upload 20-30 high-quality photos (exterior, interior, products, team). 2. Build trust through reviews Reviews directly impact rankings. What matters most: - Consistency: 2-3 reviews per week beats 20 reviews in one burst - Recency: Fresh reviews signal ongoing customer satisfaction - Quality: Detailed text reviews outperform star-only ratings - Rating: 4.5+ stars is the sweet spot Train your staff to ask for reviews. Use QR codes on receipts, tables, and signage. Respond to every review within 24-48 hours. Skip templates. Personalize responses. 3. Optimize your website for local search Your website reinforces your Google Business Profile. Create dedicated service pages for each offering (/margherita-pizza, /gluten-free-pizza). Each page should target a specific keyword, include your location, and contain 400-800 words of unique content. Add LocalBusiness schema markup to your homepage (business name, address, phone, hours, geo-coordinates). This helps Google understand your business information. Make sure your NAP (Name, Address, Phone) matches your Google Business Profile exactly. 4. Strengthen your off-site presence Citations are mentions of your business on other websites (Yelp, Bing Places, Apple Maps, TripAdvisor, industry directories). Your NAP must be identical everywhere. If your Google Business Profile says "123 Main Street," don't use "123 Main St" on Yelp. According to Whitespark's AI Search Visibility data, quality citations are the #4 ranking factor for appearing in AI responses. Build local backlinks by joining your chamber of commerce, sponsoring local events, partnering with nearby businesses, and getting featured in local news. Get on "best of" lists. According to Ahrefs research, branded web mentions correlate highly with AI visibility. 5. Monitor your rankings Google allows anyone to suggest edits to your profile. Competitors can change your hours, add wrong information, or upload inappropriate photos. Use tools like Ahrefs' GBP Monitor to track changes across multiple locations and get alerts when someone edits your listing.

Search is one important way customers discover relevant information — but searching on a map works very differently from a traditional list, such as a Google search. This is especially true for platforms like Airbnb, where geography plays a central role in how people make decisions. In a recent tech blog, Airbnb’s engineering team shared how they improved search ranking for their map interface. Since customers have limited attention, surfacing the most relevant information first is critical. For Airbnb, that means ensuring the listings most likely to be booked appear most prominently. Guided by this principle, the team iterated through three key product improvements: - First, they tested a uniform attention model, assuming users view all map pins equally. To focus attention on high-likelihood properties, they limited the number of pins shown to only higher-quality listings. This simple adjustment increased bookings by 1.7% — a remarkable lift at Airbnb’s scale. - Next, the team introduced tiered attention, displaying high-probability listings as regular pins and less-likely ones as smaller “mini-pins.” This subtle design guided user attention more effectively, boosting bookings by another 0.5%. - Finally, they modeled spatial attention, analyzing where users tend to focus on the map and dynamically re-centering it to highlight the most promising listings near the center of the screen. That small but powerful change delivered an additional 0.3% improvement in booking rate. This work shows how aligning user attention with booking likelihood can create measurable business impact — improving bookings, customer satisfaction, and overall platform efficiency. It’s a great example of how thoughtful modeling of user behavior can directly drive product success #DataScience #MachineLearning #Recommendation #Search #Map #Optimization #SnacksWeeklyonDataScience – – –  Check out the "Snacks Weekly on Data Science" podcast and subscribe, where I explain in more detail the concepts discussed in this and future posts:    -- Spotify: https://lnkd.in/gKgaMvbh   -- Apple Podcast: https://lnkd.in/gFYvfB8V    -- Youtube: https://lnkd.in/gcwPeBmR https://lnkd.in/g4M6y2wG

Content is no longer marketing, it’s the revenue engine! For years, content and commerce existed in silos. Brands ran ads, drove traffic to product pages, and worked hard to ensure users wouldn’t drop off before checkout. But the rules have changed. The most successful app-first companies don’t just use content to attract users, they use it to drive seamless, high-intent purchases inside the app. 🔹 Why are traditional funnels broken? Users don’t want to be sold to. They want to discover, engage, and buy - all in one flow. The second you make them switch platforms, create an account, or dig for product info, you lose them. Every extra step in the journey kills intent and conversions. 🔹 The new content-commerce playbook Winning apps don’t “market” products, they embed shopping into content experiences. ✅ Amazon Live: Users watch influencers demo products and can buy instantly - no external clicks needed. ✅ Myntra Studio: Shoppers consume influencer-led fashion content, then shop for the exact look inside the app. ✅ Strava’s Feed: Fitness insights from real users drive engagement with premium features and gear purchases. 🔹 The takeaway for app-first businesses If your content doesn’t reduce friction and increase conversions, it’s just noise. Here’s how to turn content into a revenue driver: ✅ UGC-powered decision-making: Users trust users. Make peer content (reviews, experiences) part of the shopping flow. ✅ In-app content-to-checkout pipelines: Stop driving users elsewhere to buy. The transaction should happen inside the engagement. ✅ AI-powered personalization: Serve content based on browsing history, social proof, and live trends to increase purchase intent. The biggest shift in in-app commerce? Content is no longer just marketing, it’s the sales funnel itself! #ContentCommerce #AppGrowth #InAppEngagement

Your highest-intent prospects aren't all the same person. I was reviewing several of our recent BOF campaigns and I was reminded of the fact that: The closer someone gets to conversion, the more your messaging matters. But most marketers treat high-intent audiences like they're all the same person. They're not. Someone who abandoned cart yesterday needs different messaging than someone who's been browsing for three weeks. Someone on mobile at 2pm needs different creative than someone on desktop at 9pm. Here’s what you should do: 1️⃣ Understand intent decay patterns. We've tracked this across client accounts - purchase intent has a half-life. After someone shows buying signals, you have roughly 72 hours of peak conversion opportunity. Day 4-7, intent drops 60%. By week two, you're basically starting over. Many advertisers waste this window with generic "complete your purchase" messaging. 2️⃣ Segment your BOF audiences by recency, not just behavior. Recent cart abandoners get urgency-focused creative. Week-old browsers get social proof and reviews. Month-old prospects need fresh product education. Same goal, different psychology. We've seen 40%+ ROAS improvements just from this basic segmentation. 3️⃣ Rotate creative elements based on engagement, not calendar. Most teams mess up by refreshing on schedule instead of performance. Monitor micro-signals: when CTR drops 15% from peak, when frequency hits 2.5x without converting, when engagement falls while impressions climb. Don't wait for Meta to flag fatigue. 4️⃣ Test messaging depth, not just messaging type. Generic "20% off" performs worse than "still thinking about those running shoes?" for cart abandoners. Specific beats generic at every intent level. We use AI to personalize hooks based on browsing behavior, and it consistently outperforms broad creative by 25-35%. Most BOF campaigns fail because they treat high-intent traffic like low-intent traffic. You've already done the hard work of getting someone interested. Don't waste it with lazy messaging.
