    10^30000 scheduling combinations. 50 hours per week in Excel. If you've lived inside traditional WFM tools, you know this headache. Assembled's new AI-powered Schedule Generation does it in minutes. Here's the breakdown: 1,000 agents. 5 shifts each. 8 hours per shift. That's 5,000 shifts to schedule. Each shift needs: One productive event (chat, email, or phone). Two breaks. One lunch. One meeting. Discretize 8 hours into 15-minute blocks and you get 32 options. For non-productive events alone: 32 × 31 × 30 × 29 / 2 = 431,520 combinations per shift. Multiply by 3 productive event options. 1,294,560 combinations per shift. Now do that for 5,000 shifts. (10^6)^5000 = 10^30000. That's a number with 30,000 digits. At 2,000 digits per page, it takes 15 pages just to write it out. The “nurse scheduling” problem is a classic NP-hard problem.     Not going to lie, one of my frustrations with Copilot early on was that it was in Outlook but it couldn't actually look at my calendar and do simple things like "provide three times I'm available next week". I've had Copilot Cowork now for almost 2 weeks and my favorite thing so far is giving it the task of finding availability on my calendar compared to dates that were provided by a customer then having it book the meeting and putting in the agreed upon agenda. Is this a time savings? 100% The interesting part is that it isn't saving me hours at a time but 5-10 minutes and removing a lot of context switching for me. So, when I do this 4-5x each day, it adds up. I get more done and I'm not just doing low value work of trying to figure out which slot is open on my calendar (cause they are usually not times offered in my time zone). Don't overlook the baby steps/easy tasks when thinking about AI. This is what will build the "muscle memory" for when the more complex tasks come along. Here's the basis of my prompt: "<Person Name> at <Company Name> sent these times they are available. <INSERT TIMES> Which time slots work with my calendar and which would be the best choice?"
