One of the worst decisions you can make for your business is putting all your marketing efforts into social media alone. As a social media/marketing manager, trust me when I say: Newsletters are one of the most underrated and underutilised marketing tools out there. Here’s why: When someone subscribes to your newsletter, they’re already invested in you. They’ve opted in. This means fewer touch-points to make a sale, and when they’re ready to buy, you’re top of mind. If you’re still on the fence, here are 5 reasons your business needs a newsletter: 1️⃣ Social media platforms can disappear at any time. Think TikTok’s potential ban—remember Vine? MySpace? Even Twitter’s had its shaky moments. If you’re relying solely on social media, you’re taking a big risk with your business. Newsletters give you direct access to your audience—no platform drama or algorithm mess to worry about. 2️⃣ You have control. Unlike social media, where algorithms decide whether your posts are seen (by only 5% of your audience on average), newsletters guarantee your content reaches your subscribers’ inboxes. No more relying on the ever-changing feed or platform rules. 3️⃣ It’s a personal way to connect. Email allows you to speak directly to your audience—no distractions, no competition for attention in a noisy feed. You can tailor your messages and build real relationships with your subscribers. 4️⃣ Emails convert better than social media. Studies show email marketing has an ROI of 36:1. That’s $36 for every $1 spent. People who engage with your emails are more likely to become paying customers compared to casual social media followers. 5️⃣ Newsletters are a powerful sales tool. A good newsletter isn’t just “Sale! Sale! Sale!” It’s about reminding subscribers who you are, how you can help, and why they trust you. When the time comes, and they’re ready to invest in your product or service, you’ll be top of mind. Think of your newsletter as a way to add real value. ________ If your plan for 2025 has been to solely focusing on social media, take this as your sign to start a newsletter. PS. I also write newsletters for my clients. If you're interested, drop me a DM with the word "Newsletter," and let's work together to create the perfect newsletter for you or your business!

Your Email List > Social Followers. Here’s Why Chasing likes won’t grow your bottom line. If you're still prioritizing social followers over email subscribers in 2025, you’re leaving serious revenue on the table. 5 Data-Backed Reasons Email > Social 1. You own your list Social = rented audience. Email = direct access. No algorithms. No platform risks. 2. Email = 4,200% ROI $1 in = $42 out (avg.) Compare that to 29% ROI for social (mainly via paid ads). 3. Engagement > Vanity Metrics 3–5% CTR in email vs. 1–2% on social media. Segmentation = 50%+ higher CTR. 4. Long-Term Value Wins Email subscriber = $45–$60/year in LTV. Social follower? Nearly $0 without ads. 5. Real Brands. Real Results. WPBeginner: 600% list growth = 3x revenue E-comm brand: 95k subs = $1.2M in email-driven sales Adam Enfroy: 17% product conversion via email 3 Steps to Maximize Your List Convert followers → lead magnets, popups, and exit-intent offers Segment & personalize → tailor content to interests Automate revenue → cart abandonment + re-engagement flows Email isn’t just a channel. It’s your most valuable asset. Invest in your list—because algorithms don’t pay the bills. #EmailMarketing #GrowthStrategy #DigitalMarketing #ListBuilding #MarketingROI #LeadGeneration #OptinMonster #MarketingAutomation

3/4 of my closest friends have left social media (specifically, IG/FB & Tik Tok) completely. The reason why is for another post, TL;DR: people realize the impact social media has on their mental health and are choosing to protect their peace. Here's why this matters for your nonprofit. 👇🏼👇🏼 You don't own your audience on social media, you are on rented land. If people are following your work on social, and then leave, can you still connect with them? I'm not saying you shouldn't focus on social, because there's so much opportunity there, especially for acquisition of new supporters. I'm saying that email list building needs to be your PRIORITY. Find a way to get people from social to email. Quick action steps: 1. Make email signup prominent on your website 2. Offer valuable lead magnets (i.e. petition, recipe book, quiz) 3. Collect emails at every touchpoint - think about your events, direct mail envelopes, virtual events. 4. Create compelling welcome sequences 5. Focus on relationship-building content Why email works: ✅ Direct connection with supporters ✅ You own your list (unlike social followers) ✅ Higher engagement rates ✅ More reliable for fundraising ✅ Not algorithm-dependent ✅ Meets supporters where they are Don't risk losing connection with supporters who care about your cause. Build that email list like your mission depends on it - because it does.

Invest where your audience really is: their inbox. Here's why email marketing still reigns supreme. 💌 Social media platforms are powerful, but they don’t belong entirely (or even mostly) under your control. Algorithms shift, platforms rise and fall (hello, TikTok?), and one sudden change can leave you scrambling. Your email list, though? That’s yours. Every email address represents someone who chose YOU. They handed over their inbox—a space they guard fiercely. That’s not just access; that’s trust. But with trust, there’s responsibility. -> Respect their time. -> Offer value, not noise. -> Build relationships, not just campaigns. Email marketing isn’t flashy, but its value is timeless. Social media may grab attention, but email builds connections that last. Social media is still essential, but don’t let your strategy rely on rented land. Focus on growing and nurturing an audience you truly own. How are you treating your inbox audience? Are you making their trust worth every click?

Everyone is obsessed with LinkedIn algorithms and TikTok trends and the newest AI tool that just launched, and meanwhile email marketing is quietly generating more revenue per dollar spent than any other channel in 2026 and nobody wants to talk about it because it is not sexy enough. I built lifecycle email systems for dozens of clients over the past six years, and the pattern is always the same. They come to me excited about running paid ads or building a massive social following, and then I ask them what their email strategy looks like and there is this long pause followed by something like "we send a newsletter once a month, I think." Klaviyo just published their 2026 marketing automation trends report and the data confirms what I have been telling every client for years: AI powered email personalization is now driving 20% increases in conversions for brands that actually invest in building proper flows, and the companies seeing the biggest returns are the ones who treat email as a first party data channel rather than an afterthought they throw together the night before a product launch. The reason email works so well and keeps working while other channels get more expensive and more unpredictable is simple. It is the one channel where you actually own the relationship with your audience. Nobody can change an algorithm on you. Nobody can throttle your reach. Nobody can increase your CPMs overnight. When someone gives you their email address, that is a direct line to them that you control completely. If you are spending thousands on ads every month but you have not built out a proper welcome sequence, an abandoned cart flow, a re-engagement series, and a consistent newsletter cadence, you are literally paying to acquire customers and then leaving money on the table by not nurturing them through the channels that cost you almost nothing to operate.

I took two weeks offline from posting on social media. And I still received client enquiries. Not because I scheduled content. Not because someone else was answering my DMs. Because my emails were still being sent. A lot of founders feel like if they’re not visible every day, everything slows down. So they keep posting, replying, and trying to stay present constantly. But while I was offline, people were downloading my lead magnet, receiving my welcome sequence, clicking through emails, and moving through the journey I’d already set up months ago. And these aren’t generic “welcome to my email list” emails. They’re emails that: → speak directly to what they’re struggling with right now → unpack what’s actually causing that challenge → show how I’ve helped someone else through it → help them picture what solving that problem could look like for them Email allows you to personalise what someone receives in a way you simply can’t with social posts. Someone joins your list and receives the next email automatically. If they click a link, they can receive a relevant follow up. If they don’t take action, they receive a different message. Instead of one mass message going to everyone, email lets you send the most relevant message based on what someone actually does. And it doesn’t stop at the welcome sequence. You can also build: → application follow-ups → sales page abandonment flows → post-purchase upsells → re engagement emails Emails that continue the conversation based on what someone has done, not just whatever you happen to post that day. That’s how I still received enquiries while I wasn’t posting at all. And it’s exactly what I help my clients build. → Identify the gaps where potential clients drop off → Create strategic sequences that guide people towards working with you → Build automations that keep those conversations running in the background So your email marketing keeps working, even when you’re not online. If you want your email list to bring in enquiries while you’re offline, send me a DM, and I’ll show you what that could look like for your business.

Your best clients aren't scrolling social media all day. They're in their inbox. Everyone's obsessed with going viral on LinkedIn. Chasing likes. Hunting impressions. Building massive followings. But here's what they're missing: The people with real buying intent aren't endlessly scrolling. They're checking email. Multiple times a day. Every single day. Social media is for browsing. Email is for business. When someone opens your email, you have their full attention. No algorithm deciding if they see your message. No competing with 500 other posts in their feed. No hoping they happen to be online when you post. Just you. Them. And a problem you can solve. The most intentful buyers I've ever closed came from email. Not a viral post. Not a clever comment thread. Not even my best LinkedIn content. Direct. Targeted. Email. If you're only focused on social media growth, you're leaving money on the table. Where are you finding your highest-intent clients?
