In the age of abundant content on the internet, there is one metric that is becoming more important than likes, comments, reach, or views. It is the feeling that stays with people after they consume your content. I call it emotional residue. In a world where the volume of content keeps increasing and where AI makes it easy to produce more in less time, most pieces of content disappear the moment you scroll past them. They may get numbers, they may get reactions, but they do not stay with you. They do not leave anything behind. But once in a while, you come across something that lingers. A line you keep thinking about. A perspective that quietly shifts something in your mind. A story that you remember days later. That lingering feeling is emotional residue and it is slowly becoming the real differentiator in a world flooded with content. People forget what they liked. They forget which video went viral. They forget most of what they consumed even a week ago. But they remember how something made them feel. They remember the creators who made them think in a new direction. They remember the ones who said something that felt true or personal or oddly familiar. You cannot engineer that feeling through tricks or templates. It comes from the intention behind what you create. It comes from depth, honesty, curiosity, clarity, and the effort to say something that actually matters to you first. Engagement becomes a by product. Emotional residue becomes the outcome. As content creation becomes easier, emotional impact becomes rarer. And in that rarity lies the opportunity. Create something that stays. Something that people remember without saving. Something that comes back to them at the right moment. That is the kind of content that builds trust, shapes identity, and turns an audience into a community.

"Who wants to hear what I have to say" is often the reason I'm given when people tell me they struggle with being consistent on their social media. They know they should by posting more regularly but they don't know how. So I've put together 7 engaging content writing tips that should make it easier to connect with your audience and so get you to the starting gates! Social media algorithms shift constantly, making audience engagement a tough game. But by having a good social media strategy in place will help ensure you have the basics in place to reach your desired clients and start to build the referall community that will help with your social selling. 1️⃣ 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵: Understand your target audience. Focus on their needs and challenges. Create content that offers solutions to their high-priority problems. Connect emotionally by sharing customer success stories. 2️⃣ 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲: Discover your audience's communication style. Tailor your posts to resonate with them. LinkedIn posts for sports brand owners and execs and Facebook posts for a triathlon community should have different tones and language. 3️⃣ 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲: Mix your personal or brand voice with your audience's language. Be consistent, authentic, and relatable to build trust and brand identification. Let them know that you are their support team. 4️⃣ 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲: Not all posts need to be "happy," but aim to inspire and excite. Share your opinions respectfully. Avoid public criticism, which can damage trust and attract negativity, unless something needs to be called out like the Rubiales / Hermoso kiss. 5️⃣ 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲: Respect your audience's time. Write at a level to reflect your audience's reading level, use headings and lists, keep paragraphs concise. Be succinct and valuable to earn their attention. Cut the waffle! 6️⃣ 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴: Use images, graphics, and videos to engage quickly and effectively. Videos humanise your brand. Optimise visuals for each platform to maintain a professional look. 7️⃣ 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Encourage audience participation. Include a call to action (CTA) at the end of your posts. Get them to do something. Drive results by guiding them to valuable content or social channels. Create irresistible content that speaks directly to your audience's needs. Let your research, tailored language, positivity, brevity, captivating visuals, and compelling CTAs guide you to social media success. A DTC fashion brand founder reached out to me, frustrated. "We’re spending lakhs on ads, but every new customer is costing us ₹1,200. How do we scale without burning money?" I checked their numbers: 📉 Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC): ₹1,200 📉 Repeat Purchase Rate: 12% (way below industry standards) 📉 Average Order Value (AOV): ₹1,800 (low margin for ad-heavy growth) 📉 ROAS: 2.1X (barely breaking even) They were stuck in the classic DTC trap: 🚨 Scaling cold traffic with direct sales ads 🚨 Over-relying on discounts to convert 🚨 No focus on repeat purchases or brand loyalty We flipped the strategy in 3 steps: 🔹 Built a Content-First Funnel → Instead of selling immediately, we warmed up cold traffic with: • UGC & influencer testimonials (trust-building) • "How to style" content (engagement) • Brand storytelling ads (higher click-through rates) 🔹 Reworked Retargeting → Instead of spamming discounts, we created: • Social proof ads (before & after styling looks) • Exclusive limited-edition drops for engaged audiences • Cart abandonment sequences with urgency-driven copy 🔹 Fixed Retention & LTV → Profits come from repeat customers, so we: • Introduced personalized post-purchase offers • Built a VIP program for early access & loyalty perks • Increased email + WhatsApp engagement (repeat buyers grew 2.3X) 💡 60 days later, here’s what changed: ✅ CAC dropped from ₹1,200 → ₹740 ✅ Repeat purchase rate jumped from 12% → 28% ✅ AOV increased from ₹1,800 → ₹2,300 ✅ Monthly revenue scaled from ₹15L → ₹24L 🚀 Scaling isn’t about cheaper ads. It’s about smarter customer journeys. If you’re struggling with CAC, ask yourself: ⚡ Are you educating cold audiences or just pushing sales? ⚡ Is your retargeting strategy fixing objections or just repeating the same ads? ⚡ Are you retaining customers or constantly chasing new ones? Fix your funnel, and you’ll scale profitably. What’s your biggest challenge in lowering CAC? Drop it below.👇 #DTCGrowth #ScalingStrategies #CACReduction #RetentionMarketing

I've been thinking a lot about the kind of content brands put into the world. Some of it sparks conversation and strengthens brand connection. Some of it...just fills the feed. Most B2C brands are great at chasing engagement, but not always at building brand meaning. When I mapped it out, the content that matters most always ends up in the upper-right quadrant: High Engagement + High Cultural Relevance / Emotional Impact. 🟩 The Sweet Spot This is content people actually interact with and that strengthens brand connection: • User-Generated Storytelling (not just reviews, but authentic, emotional UGC) • Lifestyle & Aspirational Content (travel inspo, fashion, wellness — fits seamlessly into how people see themselves) • Viral TikTok/Reels Trends (when done authentically and in sync with culture) • Influencer Collaborations (especially when creators embody your brand values) • Community Challenges / Hashtag Activations (identity-driven and participatory) This is where loyalty gets built. Where campaigns outlive algorithms. Where engagement means something. ⸻ 🟧 What to Watch Out For (Low/Low) • Generic Product Ads (feature dumps without story) • Random Sales Promotions (uninspired discount graphics) • Forced Trend-Jacking (when brands hop on memes without fit) 👉 These pieces don’t move the needle on culture or engagement. ⸻ 🟪 The Trap (High Engagement / Low Relevance) • Giveaways / Sweepstakes (quick hits, low equity) • Funny Memes / Low-lift Humor (attention-grabbing but not tied to your brand) • Clickbait-y Hacks (drive views without deepening connection) • Flash Discounts (transactional, not relational) 👉 Yes, these light up the metrics — but they don’t build lasting brand affinity. ⸻ The takeaway? Don’t just chase clicks. Make more content for the upper right: where engagement fuels cultural relevance, and cultural relevance and emotional impact fuels long-term brand love. 𝗬𝗼𝘂’𝘃𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝘂𝘇𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆. The magic? Interactive content that engages and hooks your audience. Interactive elements like polls, quizzes, and live sessions don’t just boost engagement, they turn your audience into a vibrant, active community. This fosters loyalty that lasts. Engagement isn’t just about numbers; it's about connection. A static post? It will get you likes.  A poll? It sparks conversations and builds relationships. Practical Tips:  📊 Polls: Use polls to gain real-time insights and make your audience feel heard. ❓ Quizzes: Design fun, relevant quizzes to encourage participation and gather valuable data. ▶️ Live Sessions: Engage directly with your audience, answer questions, and build trust. It’s a common myth that only content quality matters.  Interactivity is what truly elevates engagement. Brands that use interactive elements often see increased authority as they’re seen as more responsive and engaged. Imagine transforming your followers from passive observers to active participants. It’s not just possible, it’s essential! Many brands struggle with fleeting engagement. They post content, but the connection is superficial. One day, they start integrating interactive elements. Initially, it can be daunting to shift from traditional posts to interactive formats. Engagement metrics may be inconsistent as you experiment. Over time, the consistent use of interactive elements leads to a more engaged, loyal community. You’ll see increased interaction, stronger community ties, and sustained loyalty. Interactive elements are not a gimmick—they’re a strategic tool for building deeper connections. Invest in interactive content to turn fleeting engagement into lasting relationships. Start today and watch your community flourish. Enjoyed this? ♻️ Repost it to your network and follow for more insights on transforming your engagement strategy! #linkedinpoll #linkedinlivesessions #socialmediastrategist

Ever wondered why you can't stop binging a TV show? It's all about the pacing and cliffhangers. This isn't just a TV writer's trick, it's a powerful marketing strategy. In this post, I break down how you can use these same techniques to drive customer engagement and keep your audience hooked. (Hi 👋 I’m Sarah. I’ve spent 12+ years shaping stories for executives, brands, and teams—spanning TV writers’ rooms to global marketing campaigns. I’m now seeking my next senior marketing/partnerships role. Along the way, I’ll be sharing lessons from my journey in both entertainment and marketing—insights on creativity, strategy, and leadership that I’ve carried across industries.) A TV writer’s secret weapon is pacing. We manage the flow of information, sprinkling in small reveals and building tension toward a major event. But the most powerful tool in our arsenal is the cliffhanger. Just before a commercial break or at the end of an episode, we drop a bombshell that makes it impossible to change the channel. In marketing, this is the art of driving engagement and fighting customer churn. A strong content strategy uses "cliffhangers" to keep your audience hooked. This could be a "to be continued" at the end of a blog series, a sneak peek of an upcoming product, or a multi-part email sequence. You provide just enough information to satisfy their current curiosity while leaving a crucial question unanswered, compelling them to come back for more. The past few years, I led the marketing for the college football video game, and our entire launch strategy was built on this very principle. We didn't reveal the whole game at once. Instead, we drip-fed bits and pieces of the game, the schools, and the athletes to our consumer base. This took a team of experts weighing in on every detail we were planning to share. This approach was meticulously designed to build curiosity and anticipation, compelling them to keep coming back to our channels until the game's official launch. The marketing lesson is simple: don't give everything away at once. Create a sense of anticipation. Use your content to build curiosity and a desire for what's next. By strategically managing the flow of information, you can turn a passive audience into an engaged, loyal following that can't wait to see what's next. #MarketingStrategy #ContentMarketing #DigitalMarketing #CustomerEngagement #Storytelling #BrandBuilding #CampaignStrategy

Everyone talks about writing viral content. Few talk about building content ecosystems that compound. Here’s how to craft an advanced content ecosystem that compounds over time: 1️⃣ Anchor your strategy with a “Pillar-to-Spoke Model.” • Research from SEMrush shows that pillar content (long-form, evergreen) improves organic rankings by 68%. • Create one high-impact asset (e.g., a guide, webinar, white paper). • Spin off 10+ “spokes” from it: blog posts, LinkedIn threads, newsletters, and podcast topics. • Example: HubSpot's "Ultimate Guide to Blogging" generates thousands of backlinks from its derivative content. 2️⃣ Optimize for “Content Bridges,” not silos. • A mistake? Treating each piece of content as standalone. • Instead, build interconnected paths: ↳ Link your blog posts to one another strategically. ↳ CTA from LinkedIn → Your email list → Long-form guides. • Research from Moz shows that sites using interlinked content drive 40% more page views than siloed strategies. 3️⃣ Prioritize Distribution Ecosystems. • Successful ecosystems rely on multi-platform consistency. • Example: James Clear took atomic habits content from blog → social → podcast appearances → keynote speeches. • Platforms that work together compound your reach. • Research shows multi-channel strategies outperform single-channel by 24% in lead conversion rates (Source: Salesforce). 4️⃣ Measure Compounding ROI Over Time. • Viral posts may spike engagement but rarely sustain it. • Ecosystem-driven content creates ongoing value: ↳ SEO gains. ↳ Consistent audience growth. ↳ Higher domain authority. • Example: Ahrefs’ blog has become a $90M/year growth engine, with 51% of revenue driven by evergreen content ecosystems. The bottom line? Viral content is a sugar rush. Content ecosystems are compound interest. What pillar asset have you built that could fuel an ecosystem? Let’s discuss 👇

As GTM operators and leaders, we're constantly seeking ways to amplify our message and drive engagement. 💪 Recently, building the capacity to function like a media company has become crucial. You've likely heard your favorite creators and leaders discuss the importance of acting like a media company or building a media engine, machine, or center of excellence. 🎥 During my time at Airmeet, we explored how virtual events could add value to businesses and naturally lead to content repurposing. We used events to create a content engine that fueled all our other channels and mediums. Since then, I've been fascinated by how companies—especially lean ones—can build an internal media engine using AI, streamlined processes, fractional employees, and agencies... I've honed into the 5 pillars that GTM Operators and Leaders need to think about as the foundation of a media machine that fuels your GTM Strategy: 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 🎨 → Develop a diverse content mix (blogs, videos, podcasts) → Focus on solving audience pain points → Maintain consistent quality and voice 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 🎯 → Identify where your audience spends their time → Tailor content to each platform's strengths → Prioritize quality engagement over quantity of platforms 𝐄𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 📢 → Implement a multi-channel distribution strategy → Leverage employee advocacy programs → Find partners with shared values to co-create and distribute with 𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 ♻️ → Transform long-form content into bite-sized pieces → Adapt content for different platforms and formats → Maximize the lifecycle of your best-performing content 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚-𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐎𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 📊 → Set clear KPIs for each content type and channel → Regularly analyze performance metrics → Continuously refine your strategy based on insights Building a media machine isn't just about churning out content—it's about creating a systematic approach to storytelling that resonates with your audience and drives real business outcomes in the long-term. What do you think of these pillars? Which one do you find most challenging? Anything I missed? What’s the #1 mistake people make when creating content? They forget its purpose. Every piece of content needs a goal. Are you aiming to go viral? Build trust? Get appointments? Without a clear purpose, your content is just noise. Here’s how to fix that: 1. Start with the feeling How do you want your audience to feel when they read your post? - Inspired? - Educated? - Confident you’re the expert who can solve their problems? This emotional connection drives engagement. 2. Solve specific problems Let’s be real: People don’t care about fluff. They care about solutions. If you want to generate leads, focus on solving real problems your audience faces. - What keeps them up at night? - What’s costing them time, money, or resources? For example, I once wrote a post about avoiding common mistakes in cold outreach. The result? People DM’d me saying, “This is exactly what I needed!” 3. Be unapologetically YOU Stop trying to sound like someone else. Authenticity wins every time. Your voice, your style, your perspective—that’s what stands out. 4. Hook them immediately Your opening line can make or break your post. Write 5-10 hooks and pick the one that hits hardest. Here’s one: “Ignoring this one thing in your content strategy could cost you 20% of your leads.” 5. Show them the stakes Every problem has consequences. Make your audience feel them. - If you’re not fixing this issue, you’re likely losing X% of revenue. - Want to avoid wasting 20 hours a week on ineffective strategies? Start here. 6. Share your stories Talk about your challenges, your wins, your clients’ transformations. Case studies and real-life examples build trust and credibility. – – – – – When I create content, I stick to this structure: 1. Hook: Grab attention. 2. Problem: What’s the pain point? 3. Solution: How can they fix it? 4. Impact: What changes when they do? 5. CTA: What action should they take next? For example, if your goal is lead generation, write posts about cold email strategies, LinkedIn outreach tips, or common misconceptions. Solve these problems, and people will see you as the go-to expert. What’s your biggest challenge when creating content? Drop it in the comments, I’d love to help! #ContentStrategy #LeadGeneration #Authenticity
