Keeping top talent isn’t about offering the biggest paycheck. It’s about offering the deepest respect. I’ve seen this play out over and over: Talented people walking away, Not because of money, But because they felt invisible. Most teams lose their best people because: ↳ They assume salary is enough ↳ They skip real recognition ↳ They expect loyalty without care But retention isn’t luck. Retention is built. 1/ Before They Think of Leaving It’s already too late. ➡️ Daily Recognition ↳ Praise their impact, not just effort ↳ Be specific: what did they actually do well? ↳ Celebrate wins in public ↳ And give feedback that helps them grow ➡️ Career Pathing ↳ Don't wait for them to ask "what's next?" ↳ Create visible growth ladders ↳ Offer projects that stretch, not just stress ↳ Make it easy to see a future at your company ➡️ Emotional Safety ↳ Are you listening when they speak up? ↳ Do they feel safe failing, learning, trying again? ↳ Respect isn’t just words, it’s culture in action 2/ During Moments That Matter The best companies don’t wait for exit interviews to start listening. ➡️ Milestones ↳ Promotions, birthdays, even tough seasons ↳ A simple “we see you” goes a long way ↳ Gratitude shouldn’t just be annual ➡️ Manager Check-ins ↳ Are they challenged? Bored? Burnt out? ↳ Ask. Then act. ↳ Growth talks > performance reviews ➡️ Team Culture ↳ Respect everyone’s time and boundaries ↳ Celebrate contributions, not just personalities ↳ Create space for quiet talent to shine too 3/ When They’re at Their Best That’s when they need the most support. ➡️ Don’t over-rely ↳ Top performers aren’t machines ↳ Give them rest. Give them space. ↳ Or they’ll go where they’re nurtured, not used ➡️ Pay Fair, Not Just High ↳ Transparency builds trust ↳ Compensation should match impact ↳ But value goes beyond money Remember: People don’t just stay for the perks. They stay where they feel valued, seen, and supported. What’s one thing your best boss ever did to make you feel valued? This one Claude prompt replaced 3 hours of buyer research for every SDR/AE team I work with down to 5 minutes. I timed it.. so no lies here. Here's what I keep seeing with the sales teams I work with. Reps do their research and come back with... 'I see your company just raised funding.' The same signal every other rep found. The same opening line every buyer already heard idk 10 times this week.. So I built a prompt that does the deep research in about 5 minutes. And I mean actually deep... not some fluff insight. I'm talking specific challenges tied to the role.... What buying signals happen within your inbound process.. Trigger events that signal buying readiness... Even the reasons they might resist your solution so your reps aren't blindsided on calls. Sales leaders... here's the exact prompt. Set this up as a Claude project and give your team access: "You are a B2B intelligence expert with 20+ years of experience researching buyer personas and creating targeted messaging strategies. Conduct a deep dive on the following persona: [insert Persona] in [insert Industry]. Identify the top 3 pain points most relevant to this persona's role and business context in (current year). Look at my inbound conversations and find 3 correlation points. List 3 trigger events that typically create readiness to buy. Outline 3 reasons this persona might resist your solution. Ensure all output is practical, specific, and grounded in real-world B2B dynamics. Now explain this to me so I know you understand the process." So.. I run this inside Claude as a project. That way the context stays loaded and every rep on the team can access it without re-entering the setup every time. But here's the part most people miss and it drives me crazy... Don't have your teams just copy and paste this.... Because AI doesn't know your buyer.... AI knows patterns about your buyer. ...The rep's job is to take that intelligence and make it HUMAN... to connect a dot the AI couldn't see. That's the workflow we build inside Sales Team Six. AI does the research in 5 minutes. The rep spends the next 5 minutes making it personal. 10 minutes total and the prospect can feel the difference between that and the 30 seconds some other rep spent letting AI write the whole message. The teams using this workflow are starting more conversations because their messages sound like someone who actually studied the buyer. Not someone who prompted a bot and hit send. P.S. I set up the full Claude project workflow so your team can copy it in 2 minutes. DM me CLAUDE and I'll send it over.

Yesterday I had a call with a VP of Enablement And what she shared, blew my mind. "We fed Ai our top rep's calls," she said. "What we discovered changed everything." I had to know more. Her company: 400+ rep SaaS org The problem: Only 3 reps consistently hit 150%+ of quota The question: What makes them different? So they ran an experiment. Fed 6 months of call recordings into Ai. Top 3 performers vs everyone else. "Find the patterns," they told it. 45 minutes later, her entire enablement strategy was in the trash. Here's what they discovered: Discovery #1: Top reps talk 28% LESS Average rep: 64% talk time Top performers: 36% talk time But when they do speak? Surgical precision. Discovery #2: They "lose" more deals Top reps disqualify 41% of opportunities in discovery. Average reps disqualify 12%. Her reaction: "We've been teaching reps to save every deal. Our best reps are doing the opposite." Close rates tell the story: Top reps: 68% Everyone else: 24% Discovery #3: The 17-minute rule No top performer mentions product features before minute 17. Not once in 6 months of calls. Instead, they talk about: - The prospect's competition (38% of discovery) - Industry disruptions (29%) - Personal career goals (21%) - Team dynamics (12%) "We train feature-benefit from day one," she told me. "Our best reps ignore it completely." Discovery #4: They use one phrase repeatedly "The best companies in your space are..." Appears 4.2 times per call for top reps. 0.3 times for everyone else. Always followed by strategic silence. Prospect fills the gap every time. Discovery #5: Their follow-up is backwards Average rep: "Here's what we discussed" Top rep: "Here's what your competitor just announced" Top reps lead with market intelligence. Never with meeting recaps. She showed me what happened next: They rebuilt everything. Scrapped their 40-slide onboarding deck. Threw out their talk tracks. Redesigned training from scratch. New approach: Week 1: Master strategic silence Week 2: Practice disqualification Week 3: Industry intelligence training Week 4: Competitive positioning No product training until week 5. But here's what really got me— "The hardest part wasn't changing the training," she said. "It was convincing leadership that everything we believed was wrong." Her parting words: "If you're not using AI to audit your top performers, you're training your team to be average." She's right. We assume we know what works. We document what we think happens. We scale the wrong behaviors. Meanwhile, top performers are breaking every rule. And crushing quota doing it. CSOs, here's your assignment: Pick your top rep. Feed their calls to AI. Prepare to be shocked. What "best practice" would AI prove wrong in your org?

How I helped ~90 AEs & BDRs increase outbound meetings set by 42% quarter over quarter 👇 Back story: - This sales team primarily relied on expensive inbound leads - AEs were not self-sourcing pipeline - Many AEs hadn't made a cold call in years - Inbound deals were way too small Here's what we did: ✅ Focused on training front-line leaders This is crucial for making habits stick and creating long-term results. ✅ Implemented the "Reinforcement Loop" framework with leaders We used this simple framework to reinforce the training. Teach. Telling is not teaching. Speak to the why, what, and how behind the area of coaching focus. Practice. The stakes are high in live situations with prospects. Avoid a culture where reps practice on prospects. Role play and facilitate practice during your 1on1s and team coaching calls. Observe. Self-reported data is the least accurate. Trust in your reps, but verify by watching and listening to them in action. Coach. Ad-hoc coaching doesn’t create lasting change. Be consistent in delivering coaching. But more importantly, empower reps with the tools and ability to self-assess and self-coach. ✅ Determine the Sales Math You must establish metrics for success. They worked with each rep to determine the exact level of activity needed to hit their desired target. No arbitrary activity metrics. ✅ Give to get culture with rep coaching In order to get coaching, reps must first attempt to coach themselves. We did this by aligning the leaders on a standardized cold-calling scorecard. Then, each rep was required to score one of their cold calls and bring it into their weekly 1on1 for feedback. ✅ Weekly GSD sessions We ran twice weekly Get sh*t done sessions with the sales team. These are two 1-hour standing calls where every rep is required to get on and prospect within each of their teams. Managers get in the pit, give feedback, and make calls with reps. ~~~ This is what it takes to create a dramatic pipeline-building culture shift in your org. It's hard. Requires a ton of discipline and accountability from front-line leaders. And takes 1-2 quarters to successfully implement. Want help making this culture shift at your org? Drop me a DM and I'll let you know we might be able to help #sales

Salesforce's top Enterprise AE for a Fortune 50 company shared a giant success secret with me. Elite team selling, using the "3 G's". Here's how she does it. And the last one is the most important... She teams up with the SDR, Solutions Consultant (SC/SE), CSM & RVP on --> The Grapevine --> The Group --> The Goal The Grapevine - She religiously holds a weekly strategy meeting that includes "what I've heard / what you've heard" from each person. It's brief, keeps everyone on the same page, and saves hundreds of DMs. The Group - Throughout the week, she often acts as a Project Manager. She keeps clear communication on who is following up with who, aligning roles & titles. And she keeps track of this in her Account Plan, which the whole group can access. The Goal - She runs standalone prep calls for upcoming customer-facing meetings. Her calendar invites always include these 3 notes: 1) The vibe we're going for on this call (How do we want them to feel when the call ends? Confident? At ease? Excited?) 2) The 2 things we can't end this meeting without knowing. (Guides discovery questions & gives the group something to listen for.) 3) The next step we're suggesting. (So the team isn't surprised & can offer feedback.) Enterprise sales take a huge effort. The best sellers know it has to be a team sport. How are you keeping your internal team on the same page? ps- If this breakdown was helpful, you might get value from the "Enterprise Sales Accelerator" program. Weekly live sales coaching! Practical breakdowns & deal strategy. All the details in my bio.

🛑 Stop Blaming Your Sales Team. (It’s Not Their Fault.) A sales leader recently told me, visibly frustrated, “Most of my salespeople just don’t perform!” If I had a dollar or Euro for every time I heard that, I could retire tomorrow. 😉 The truth is, salespeople aren't failing because they lack skills or motivation. They fail because leadership often hands them the steering wheel but forgets to give them a map, fuel, or driving lessons. The actual performance gap isn’t in the sales seats—it’s in the coaching box. The Unhelpful “Coaching” Checklist 📝 You cannot develop a professional sales team by merely instructing them to do these things: - Attract new customers. - "Pick up the phone and make appointments." - Begin mailing prospects. - "Do something..." That's the sales equivalent of telling a marathon runner, "Just run faster!" It’s management by wishful thinking, not strategy. The Shift: From Manager to Master Coach 🚀 The issue isn't malice; it's a lack of a clear, actionable system. As leaders, our role is to transition from being mere administrators to becoming Strategic Developers who equip others with the tools for consistent success. Here's what your sales team truly needs to transform into a high-performing engine: ✅ The Blueprint: a customised sales playbook and a consistent, measurable sales process. (Without a process, dependable results are unlikely.) ✅ The Edge: Training in successfully prospecting for new business and creating a competitive advantage against major rivals. ✅ The Drill: Well-organised, near-real-life role-play sessions designed to refine skills, improve attitude, and boost confidence under pressure. ✅ The "Why": Grasping and leveraging the genuine motivation of your salespeople to enhance both new business acquisition and customer growth. ✅ The Retention Strategy: Identifying what is essential for your existing customers so your team can keep them long-term and enhance their value. 🔥 The Urgency of Investment Neglecting sales development isn't "saving money." It's the most costly strategy you can choose. Every day you postpone investing in a strong sales structure is a day you leave high-value revenue on the table. Break the cycle of blame and start the cycle of growth. You have talented people. Provide them with a system that enables them to succeed. With 40 years in sales and management, I specialise in transforming vague goals into tangible, high-impact performance systems. If you're ready to stop blaming your team and start building a Killer Sales Engine that provides predictable, sustainable results, let's have a chat. Send me a DM and we'll meet and talk! P.S. What is the most common, unhelpful advice you've heard a sales leader give their team? Share your story below! 👇

I almost fired our best SDR last year. It wasn’t personal. He was a good guy, worked hard, and always showed up on time. But month after month, his numbers weren’t improving. Emails went unanswered. Calls never connected. Demos? Non-existent. We were both frustrated. I started to wonder if he was the problem. Maybe sales wasn’t his thing? Then one afternoon, we grabbed coffee. Instead of talking numbers, we talked openly. I asked him straight-up: “Why isn’t it working?” He took a deep breath and replied: “I’m following our playbook. I send hundreds of emails, but honestly, I’m just guessing. I don’t really know who’s ready to talk, so I try everyone.” It hit me like a ton of bricks. We’d built a system based on volume and hope, not precision. It wasn’t him. it was us. We’d given him the wrong tools, the wrong strategy. So instead of letting him go, we completely changed how we did outbound. We stopped guessing. We started paying attention to signals: Who’s visiting our LinkedIn profiles? (Tracked via Teamfluence™) Who’s engaging silently with our posts? (Tracked via Clay) Who’s spending serious time on our website? (Tracked via RB2B) Suddenly, our SDR wasn’t sending cold messages. He was following signals that said, “Hey, I’m interested. Talk to me.” Within a month, his reply rate doubled. In two months, he became our top performer. Today, he leads our outbound team. It wasn’t about effort. It was about timing and having a system that showed him exactly when to reach out and who to reach out to. Outbound isn’t about sending more messages. It’s about knowing exactly when and how to engage. If your SDRs are struggling, ask yourself: Are they failing you or are you failing them? It might change your perspective. It certainly changed ours. #Outbound #SalesLeadership #SDRlife #RevOps #LinkedInSales #SalesLessons #GTMStrategy #B2BSaaS #SmartSelling #GTMEngineering #AIOutbound #Teamfluence #Clay

Why Your Sales Team’s Performance is Inconsistent - And How to Fix It 📢 Sales leaders, let us talk about one of the biggest frustrations in sales management - inconsistent team performance. Some reps exceed their targets month after month, while others struggle to close deals. The result? Unpredictable revenue, missed quotas, and unnecessary stress. After numerous sales consultations with leaders across industries, we identified some common challenges: 🔍 The 3 Biggest Causes of Sales Team Inconsistency 1️⃣ Lack of a Standardized Sales Process Without a clear, repeatable process, results will always be hit or miss. If every rep is handling deals differently, there’s no consistency in outreach, follow-ups, or closing techniques. 2️⃣ Weak Training & Coaching Most teams invest in onboarding, but not in ongoing training. Without continuous skill development, top performers keep winning while others fall behind. 3️⃣ Fluctuating Motivation Sales is tough. Reps experience rejection daily, and if there’s no ongoing motivation, recognition, or career growth, their performance will suffer. 🎯 How do we fix it? Some recommended solutions from top sales leaders are: ✅ Implement a Structured Sales Playbook – Document every step of the sales cycle and ensure every rep follows it. Create scripts if required, objection-handling frameworks, and outreach cadences. ✅ Make Coaching a Non-Negotiable – Hold weekly coaching sessions, role-playing exercises, and deal reviews to refine skills. The best teams train like commandos. Think Navy Seals. ✅ Recognize & Reward Regularly – Beyond commission, celebrate small wins (first meetings booked, great prospecting calls, effective follow-ups). Recognition fuels consistency. ✅ Use Data to Identify Weak Spots – Track key metrics like conversion rates, pipeline velocity, and call-to-meeting ratios to uncover patterns. Performance gaps are easier to fix when they are inferred through data. ➡The best sales teams don’t rely on talent alone—they rely on processes, training, and culture. 💬 What’s one thing you do to ensure consistency in your sales team? Let’s discuss in the comments! CEO at Scout | Sales teams are buried in busywork. Scout’s AI Agents dig them out.

Full steam ahead 💨 Every VP of Sales is being told the same thing Often by their CEO, VCs, and their board "You need to make the sales team AI native" (subtext: or else...) Ok but... What does "AI native" even mean for sales? I get this question constantly Sales leaders are being told to adopt AI but nobody is giving them an actual playbook for how to do it. So here's mine. Put really simple. Step 1: Stop trying to boil the ocean Pick ONE problem AI can solve for your team right now Not 47 different use cases Just one that's eating your team's time Example: Are your reps spending hours prepping for calls? Start there. Build a daily digest agent that pulls context from your CRM and posts it to Slack every morning at 9am. Step 2: Find your AI champion Every team has someone who's already using some form of AI like ChatGPT across their current day to day tasks Tap that person to help lead this Not because they're technical A smart but "lazy" person tends to make a great champion because they give a shit about making their life easier / faster Step 3: Give them actual resources A budget to buy tools Time to experiment (not just "figure it out between calls") Permission to fail without getting roasted If you tell someone to adopt AI but don't give them air cover to try things? Nothing will happen Step 4: Fix your data quality first This is the one everyone skips. You'll hear me repeat this sermon but the quality of your data is directly correlated to the quality of your AI. If your pitch decks are outdated and your pricing docs are scattered across 14 Google Docs? AI can't fix that. Clean up your documentation first. Step 5: Crawl, walk, run Don't try to automate your entire sales process on day one Start with boring tedious work - Call prep - CRM updates   - Meeting summaries Get wins there first. Then move to customer engagement like knowledge bases and FAQ automation. Then get into the advanced stuff. Step 6: Human in the loop forever and ever amen AI should augment your team, not replace them Your best reps should be spending more time selling and less time on grunt work That's the entire point. This is what we do at Scout btw We help sales teams build agents that handle the $5 per hour work so reps can focus on the $500 per hour work. Things like: 1) Knowledge bases so reps get answers to technical questions in seconds instead of waiting on sales engineers or leadership 2) Call summaries so they're not doing data entry after every disco call 3) Daily digests so they walk into calls prepared -- 👋 I'm Bryan Chappell, CEO of Scout. We help you automate sales workflows without bugging your dev team. We connect to your data, build AI agents, then launch them into the tools you already use

Culture is everything 🙏🏾 When leaders accept or overlook poor behaviour, they implicitly endorse those actions, potentially eroding the organisation’s values and morale. To build a thriving culture, leaders must actively shape it by refusing to tolerate behaviour that contradicts their values and expectations.
 The best leaders:
 1. Define and Communicate Core Values: * Articulate Expectations: Clearly define and communicate the organisation’s core values and behavioural expectations. Make these values central to every aspect of the organisation’s operations and culture. * Embed Values in Policies: Integrate these values into your policies, procedures, and performance metrics to ensure they are reflected in daily operations.
 2. Model the Behaviour You Expect: * Lead by Example: Demonstrate the behaviour you want to see in others. Your actions should reflect the organisation’s values, from how you interact with employees to how you handle challenges. 3. Address Poor Behaviour Promptly: * Act Quickly: Confront and address inappropriate behaviour as soon as it occurs. Delays in addressing issues can lead to a culture of tolerance for misconduct. * Apply Consistent Consequences: Ensure that consequences for poor behaviour are fair, consistent, and aligned with organisational values. This reinforces that there are clear boundaries and expectations.
 4. Foster a Culture of Accountability: * Encourage Self-Regulation: Promote an environment where everyone is encouraged to hold themselves and others accountable for their actions. * Provide Support: Offer resources and support for employees to understand and align with organisational values, helping them navigate challenges and uphold standards.
 5. Seek and Act on Feedback: * Encourage Open Communication: Create channels for employees to provide feedback on behaviour and organisational culture without fear of reprisal. * Respond Constructively: Act on feedback to address and rectify issues. This shows that you value employee input and are committed to maintaining a positive culture.
 6. Celebrate Positive Behaviour: * Recognise and Reward: Acknowledge and reward employees who exemplify the organisation’s values. Celebrating positive behaviour reinforces the desired culture and motivates others to follow suit. * Share Success Stories: Highlight examples of how upholding values has led to positive outcomes, reinforcing the connection between behaviour and organisational success.
 7. Invest in Leadership Development: * Provide Training: Offer training and development opportunities for leaders at all levels to enhance their skills in managing behaviour and fostering a positive culture. 8. Promote Inclusivity and Respect: * Build a Diverse Environment: Create a culture that respects and values diversity. Inclusivity strengthens the organisational fabric and fosters a more collaborative and supportive work environment.
